SUSAN BRAND | DOCUMENTARY EDITOR

CAREER OVERVIEW:

I have over 15 years experience as a documentary editor working in New York and London. In New York I worked for major networks as well as independent filmmakers making feature documentaries. In the UK I edit BBC and C4 documentaries, many of which have won awards or been nominated. I enjoy collaborating with the director on writing cmmentary scripts; I keep a keen eye on structure, the heart of amy well made film. It is also important to me to look at the shot material with fresh eyes. I aim to bring out the best in the material, to make original and dynamic stories. 

I have taught at a number of British films schools including the National Film and Television School, specialising in effective storytelling for documentary film-makers. 

I also organise events at The Frontline Club. I interview panels and screen and dsicuss films I have chosen which have a strong, innovative method of editing and storytelling.
